We are 4!!!

I can't believe Alexandra & Grayson are 4!!!

I still remember my last day of work, coming home to the house clean (mom and Gary were here and cleaned the house and cooked dinner)... they were preparing for the next day. The day that the twins would arrive.

When I got home... there was a sense of relief. Then the emotions hit. I was excited. I was nervous. I was sooo HAPPY.

I had a scheduled C-section at noon on November 16.

I woke up after a good night's sleep... took my shower, did my hair and put MAKEUP on. Yes, I am vain. Yes, I know. Brian even told me I was the most vain person he knew... Whateve. LOL I knew there would be picture taken and I had to look good for my babies!!

We waited and waited. I was so thirsty and hungry and of course... I couldn't eat or drink anything. Then the nurse came in and said that there was an emergency c-section and I had to wait.

No prob!! If there was another mama or baby in jeoprady... TAKE CARE OF THEM.

When we finally got called back... I was so excited. I think Brian was extremely nervous.

I did NOT like the fact that I couldn't see what they were doing... especially since I smelt this burning smell!! I asked B what it was and he said he couldn't smell anything. SO, I said it louder!! HAHAHA. The anesthesiologist then said it was me. I didn't realize they used a hot knife to cut me open like butter. GROSS.

Baby A came out first. They showed me Alex. She was tiny and sweet. They cleaned her up... and we took a pic. Her face was so tiny and feminine. She looked like a little girl. She was MY little girl.

Then here came Gray. Screaming and crying and causing a fuss!! He was long and lean and lighter in skin tone then her. His face more masculine. Darlin' lil' man. MY little man.

They were both healthy as can be!! No NICU for these monsters. We were so lucky.

And to this day we are so blessed to have in our lives. There personalities are wonderfully different. They are loving and caring. They are growing up to be GOOD little people... and INDIVIDUALS.

I took a few pictures of them on their actual birthday. They have changed so much... yet stayed the same. She is still MY little girl and he's still MY little man.

Celebrate With US!!!

Last week was super busy. It started on Sunday... we CELEBRATED the kids' (yes, all three kiddos) birthday.

For the last several years, November 16 or around then, has had incredible weather. So this year, we used that knowledge and opted to have a birthday party at the park.

BOY am I glad we did. We couldn't have asked for better weather! Though, I have to admit, earlier in the week, I was worried... rain was in the forecast. But since Texas is sooooo unpredictable we didn't panic... it ended up being sunny, breezy and with a high of 80!! LOL. It was great.

We rented a bounce house from Great Party Rentals, a local business. It was what the kids wanted so we splurged.

The bounce house, like always, was a HIT!! All the kids (over 25 kiddos came) bounced and slid (there was a slide)... and played on the play ground. The adults chit chatted or threw the football around.

There was hot dogs and chips... and CUPCAKES <3

I can't. And while I may be biased, he's freaken adorable.

But he's going to be 2 in December. Yes, 2. I cannot believe how quickly time has flown. & it's time to say Bye Bye to his Bink.

Any suggestions?? If he wakes up with it in his mouth, it's hard to get it away. If he wakes up without it in his mouth he's usually okay.

I feel his paci is also detouring his speech. He has said quite a few new words these last couple of weeks but his only constant word is mama. Yay for me LOL.

So... yea. That's all I got for you today.

We are fixing to break Bink from his habit.

I want a good fitting jean.

I am getting to that in between age. You know, not a "junior" anymore and not an old lady.

That's me.

My post baby body hates me and I hate it. I mean. I hate to be "ugly*" but the body is ugly. I appreciate that it works well (for the most part) but there are SOOOO many things I would change.

And though I would love to pour my heart out about my body woes, I will spare you.

All I will say is I want a jean to fit me well. So I don't look like an oompa loompa. So they flatter my figure (which I still have).

I know I have a big butt. I know I have big legs. And I know my tummy will never be flat again (until I get a tummy tuck) but there has got to be something out there for me :(

This year, I am afraid, is the last year I was able to do a "themed" Halloween with the kids and I really think they loved it.

At first, when we started talking about Halloween, they all three wanted to be pumpkins. Then, at the beginning of September Gray said he wanted to be an orca! An orca?? Really?? Yes. An Orca, really. Gray LOVES them.

When I told him the Orca costumes were too expensive (like $40+) I asked him if a Shark would work. Well of course it would!! He loves Sharks too!! LOL.

Then... I showed Alex a SHINNNNNNNNNY Mermaid costume. She loved it. I knew she would. She likes anything with sequins and glitter. She's her mother's daughter for sure!!

And Dal, well... He doesn't talk much yet, so he got what mommy bought him; Nemo!!!

Hope everyone had a safe and wonder Halloween. Ours was great. I can't wait until next year

What's that SMELL??

Why, it's me. Or should I say, my clean, out of the dryer, still warm to the touch clothes.

Who needs perfume when you have the Bounce Dryer Bar?? That's right folks. It's awesome.

The other day... Dalton and I went out to the mailbox. It was Wednesday... I knew we'd have ads but I had NO IDEA I had a "gift" waiting for me.

Dal got to carry the "gift" inside... and proceeded to open it before I had a chance to see what he had. All of a sudden I hear him {sniffing} --- sssmmmm smmmmmffff mmm mmm

WHAT IN THE WORLD!?!

I glance over and see he's tearing open the packaging of this thing. Heck, I wasn't sure what it was. So I told him to let mommy have it and we could smell together.

Before opening it... I read the outside... Packaging was nice, bright and to the point.

I had seen the commercials for the Bounce Dryer Bar but hadn't actually seen one in the store.

Looked cool and we had a load of towels fixin' to go into the dryer.

This would be THE TEST. If my towels were soft and smelt good then the Dryer Bar would be a success

We, Dal and I of course, followed the directions. We cleaned the dryer, dried the place and then stuck the bar holder on to the metal part of the dryer. Seemed easy enough a 2 year old could do it.

The bar and bar holder aren't too larger. So I didn't worry about it interfering.

We added our towels and waited for the buzzer!!! BUUUZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!

Laundry was done!! Time to inspect. And to my amazement, the towels smelt awesome and felt great.

Now, let's fast forward until today. I got a new towel out of the linen closet. It was a towel from the batch I washed on Wednesday. It still smelt great and felt soft.

The Bounce Dryer Bar is a success for the Stone Household.

What is there NOT to love?!!?

I think it's important for parents to raise their children to love one another. Siblings should be close. Age gaps shouldn't matter.

Teaching kids that they are made up of the same "goods" is important. And when I say same "goods" I don't mean they have to have the same DNA make up. Real parents don't care about the DNA. They care about loving their children and giving them what they need to be successful little people.

I was very lucky my parents taught me this at a very young age. They taught me to do onto others as I want done onto me. I think that is what has stuck with me the most.

Plus... I was lucky to have an awesome brother. We could pick on one another but dare the FOOL who tried/ tries to come between him and I.

It is nice to see the kids showing that same kinda love, you know... the one my brother and I share, to one another.

On Saturday... the kids, Brian & I were at Brian's parent's, Terry and Craig, home.

I worked the Peanut Festival on Saturday... so the kids got to spend some quality time with GiGi and Grand-dad.

When I got home from the festival, around 6 pm... the kids were outside playing. Alex was showing me her "new" bike which GiGi and Grand-dad purchased at a yards sale. Dalton was running back and forth and Gray was playing with a transformer (nothing new there).

Were wall having a great time. The weather was perfect!!

Gray then switched with Alex. He wanted to ride the bike. He went back and forth on the HUGE porch a few times and then I heard.

"Snake. Mama there's a snake."

Gray had said it so calmly.

I asked him, "Gray do you see a big snake?" As I got up and headed to wear he was. I was a bit nervous actually and was hoping he'd say no.

We have had a LOT of grass snakes in our yard. They are about the size of a pencil. Every time the kids see one... they come get me so I can get rid of the little creature

Soo.... Gray's response was, "Yes... a really big snake!"

So I told him to stay on his bike.

Gray was on the porch, but at the end of the porch. I was at his side in a jiffy pop second and so was his Grand-Dad.

Craig/ Grand-Dad exclaims, "It's a cooper head."

As he was saying that, I grabbed Gray off his bike and rushed the kids in the house until we could dispose of the snake.

I WAS SCARED!! I had never seen a cooper-head in the wild. It was a good width and about 2.5 feet long. He was completely stretched out.

Ballsy Brian squashed his head with a huge rock... the snake was dead. YES. We killed the snake.

Anyways... I was so glad that Gray was so calm, and cool when he saw the snake. He knew exactly what to do; Tell a grown up. I am so proud of him for protecting us. I am so proud of him for knowing and remembering what to do in a situation like that.

They are getting so big!!

Please, Do NOT Compare

It is so hard for parents and PEOPLE not to compare children with other children.

For a parent with multiple children you always compare. You compare personalities, size, comprehension, what they like, how much they eat, what words they know, etc.

For outsiders... the comparison, in my opinion, is worse. They don't always know the age of the children they are comparing. Some children are small/large for their age so they ASSUME they should act a certain way or know certain milestones.

This frustrates me.

Both of my boys haven't been much of talkers at a young age. They have comprehended simple instructions from a very young age. And know body parts and animals at a very young age as well. But they just don't form their words.

Now, Alexandra (Gray's twin sister), talks all the time and has been since she was 18 mons old.

All three kids were taught the same way... and I have spent extra time with the boys. That didn't change things though. They are just late in talking.

Please, don't think they are less smart.

Just because a child doesn't talk a ton doesn't mean they are less intelligent. You have to analyse the who picture. Grayson's mind works like an engineer. He wants to find out how things work. He has fantastic fine motorskills.

Same with Dalton.

Now... with all that said... I am excited to say Dalton has said Nana - Banana and Dog dog - hot dog or dog for the last couple of weeks!!

His vocabulary now includes : mama, i want mama, dada, bubba, hot, ut-oh, nana and dog dog.

Let me start off by saying how THANKFUL I am for being so busy.

I love having three active kids who want to run, play, climb, sing and dance. Not to mention the reading, coloring, feeding, etc. I love that they aren't bumps on logs LOL.

I love having a job I can do from home. Though, I wish I made more $$$ doing it... beggars can't be choosy.

PCOS - Yea, I have it

It's been awhile since I have posted... main reason, I have been in California visiting family.

I have also been very busy with Only Prettier. We just launched our fall/ winter line and Halloween Pretties!!

Plus, I have been struggling a bit.

I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). While I don't have an extreme case... I do have some symptoms. Mainly, WEIGHT ISSUES.

I love who I am. I would change anything about myself... however, I wish I could be a size 4/6 again. I wish I was thin. I wish I didn't have to worry about weight and things I put in my mouth. I wish I could go back to 2006 or earlier... before I had PCOS.

While studies show women are born with PCOS... I never had symptoms until my Gall Bladder removal in May of 2006.

Since my Gall Bladder removal... weight has been a HUGE issue. I was never overweight... and now I am considered obese.

I wish I could commit to a diet of vegetables and lean meat, but it's not realistic in my life. I need something R.E.A.L.I.S.T.I.C.

I don't over eat... and I usually eat well. I don't drink sodas (well... on an occassion I do) and usually drink water or decaf tea.

Do I exercise... No. I am not going to lie. I don't actually exercise. But I do chase after three kiddos. I do pick up my house and do other physical activities.

I want to get a gym membership as I know I will do better in a "team" environment.

Why am I sharing all this... because it's my blog. And I know I am not alone. I know there's other women who have PCOS who have similar feelings.

I know there's other PCOSers who have found something that works. Who have a GREAT DOCTOR to help with their PCOS journey.

Currently, I am not on any meds for PCOS. When I was TTC, I was on Provera and Metformin.

Since having my third baby, December 2009, I had a Mirena put in.
I do NOT like it. It seems like I have mood swings and I have gained 25 lbs since putting it in.

I also don't have a doctor who knows a lot about PCOS. I feel like I am getting written off by my doctors (OB/ GYN was a great pregnancy doc though).

SO.... if you have PCOS I want to hear from you!!

Have you found something that works. Are you bummed out with your symptoms?? DO you have a doctor that is actually GREAT?? I am in DFW (Dallas/ Ft. Worth Texas). I would love referrals <3

Recently, my dad asked for some more pictures of the kids for my grandma, Omi. Of course, I hemmed and hawed. Sending 100s of photos via email takes a LONG TIME!

However, I love my Omi... so I wanted to make sure I got some photos to her.

While I was sending photos, I can across some oldies from the twins 3rd year birthday and Dalton's 1st Birthday!! I am in serious denial that Dalton is a toddler and no longer a baby. Seeing his chubby cheeks was refreshing.

It's amazingly sad how quickly time flies by. But before I start to cry... here's some photos of my BABIES <3

Knorr - It's What's IN Dinner

Recently, Blogher and Knorr teamed up to host an AMAZING contest. A recipe contest.

I was one of the lucky Blogher bloggesses that was chosen to participate.

I have waited about a month to post this blog because I wanted to see the winners before I wrote my blog. Unfortunately, I was not one of the 8 who were able to move on.

Now, that doesn't mean my recipe doesn't kick butt because it does!! I guarantee it.

Knorr, recently introduced their new Homestyle Stock. It has NO MSG added, it's low in fat, and Cholesterol Free. All things that are important for a healthy life style. Plus, it's made with the finest ingredients, like fresh veggies. And being a mother of three growing kiddos... it's important to me to give my children quality TASTY foods.

So, I took one of my regular recipes and decided to spruce it up a bit. I was a bit worried since it's a family favorite, but thought I would give it a try.

1 lbs chicken breast
1 pkg of Chicken Homestyle Stock
1 onion (white or yellow will work)
2 garlic cloves
tablespoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of chiptole (more if you like it SPICY)
salt to taste (be careful with salt... the stock has salt AND when the water boils down it may leave the chicken too salty... I usually add towards the end)
fresh ground pepper to taste

Get a big soup pot (2 qt or bigger), fill 2/3 with water. Bring to boil. Once water is boiling whisk in the Homestyle Stock. This will give you a great base. (turn heat down after stock made)

Roughly, chop up the onion and put in stock. Crush the garlic and add to stock as well.

I then season the water. I season it BEFORE I add the chicken so I can taste it. (Add spices, salt and pepper). Then taste!! What do you think?? Does it need some more cumin (strength will depend on quality of product)? Do you want it to be spicier?? Adjust the recipe to fit YOUR FAMILY.

Once you get the stock to the taste you like, add the chicken. Let the chicken simmer covered for a few hours.

I usually make this around lunch time so it will be perfect for dinner. Throughout the day, add water so the chicken stays covered. OR it will dry it out. YUCK.

Now you have a great stock and wonderful tasting chicken. What to do next?!?! The possibilities are endless!!

Normally, I shred the chicken and make tacos, burritos or nachos with it. BUT KEEP THE STOCK. If there's left over chicken, you can add the chicken back into the stock and make Chicken Tortilla soup (or my version of it... I will post a recipe the next post)

The 4th of July has been one of my most favorite holidays for a LONG time!!

I love summer. I love the fresh fruit. The colors... The swimming, picnics and festivals. To me, it seems like good ol' American fun.

I am very patriotic. I am PROUD to be an American. I am PROUD of my country. & this is great way to show a little patriotism.

We started our 4th of July weekend with a Rodeo. What's more American than COWBOYS?

I feel our family has been very blessed not to have had a lot of medical issues. Especially since, the twins were a few weeks premature. For the most part, we are a healthy bunch!!

Well, that wasn't the case June 10.

Alexandra had been a little moopy that day and complained about a little tummy ache on the upper right side of her abdomen... She didn't want to do much and took a couple of naps. I striked it up to her being worn out as we had a busy few days. It wasn't until I touched her sweet face and realized she was burning up that I got worried!

The first time I temped her, around 5 pm, she was at 102 fever... I gave her some fever reducer and lots of liquids. And was really keeping an eye on her. She showed no other symptoms (e.g. coughing, sneezing, running nose, congestion, diarehea, vomiting).

Her appetite was very minimal at dinner.. so we temped her at dinner: 103.7!! This was a couple of hours after the fever reducer. & she was still complaining about that spot on her abdomen.

At this point... her and I went and sat in a warm/ cool bath to try to get the fever down. We were not able to give her more meds for a bit.

The cool bath did seem to help a bit and afterwards she wanted to go to sleep.

We woke her up for additional dose as she still had a fever of 103... Then around 10 pm, Brian went to check on her and her fever had spiked to 105!!! As parents... we were freaking out!! None of the kids have ever had a fever we couldn't bring down... nor had it ever been over 103.

I looked at Brian and he looked at me and we were both scared!! I started thinking her tummy ache had a bit to do with the fever and started thinking maybe it was apendicitis. EEK.

Brian and I agreed she needed to go to the ER. So her and I rushed out the door and to Mansfield Methodist.

When we got there... her temp was 104.7 and the admitted her to a room right away.

Once in they did a couple of tests and then asked for a urine sample!! Seriously? How was I going to get a urine sample from a 3 1/2 year old. But then I remember this bowl/ cowboy hat looking thing they used after I had the kids when they needed to measure how much pee I was producing with out a cath (sorry... TMI). I asked the nurse (who was awesome) if she had one... She got one and Alex pee'ed!! It was perfect <3

After the tests they decided to do X-Rays and an IV...

Saddest face award goes to : Alexandra!!

The picture above was taken right after the put in her IV. As a mom... it was so heart breaking watching my sweet angel get poked with a huge needle!! She keep saying "Mother... please!! NOOOOOOO. OOOOWWWWW. Mother help me" :(

I just reassured her the pain would be real quick. But the 30 secs it took to put in the IV and draw blood and hook up the liquid took an eternity for her and I. Luckily... she got a popsicle shortly after this pic.

After about 5 hours in the ER she was diagnosed with acute pneumonia and prescribed antibiotics.

Following Alex's bout... Gray and I got the same thing on Sunday. Gray's was not too bad and he seemed to be better by Tuesday. I, on the other hand, was pretty bad!! I definitely had it the worst!! 104 fever for an adult is not fun... And unlike Gray and Alex... my pneumonia was in both lungs.

Thankfully, Brian and Dalton stayed healthy. & we are all now over it.

Dinosaur Stomp

I love dinosaurs!! I always have.

So, when Alex and Grayson started showing interest in dinosaurs a year or so ago... I was excited!!

About that time, we started watching Dinosaur Train on PBS.

We, as a family, ADORE that show. Not only is it entertaining... but it is very educational. It makes learning fun for the kids and that's important. In fact, when your 2 1/2 year old can go to the children's museum and name off the dinosaurs, it's impressive. ;)

Back to the subject!

This past Memorial Day weekend... Brian and I were trying to figure out something relatively inexpensive and FUN to do with our bunch. We had run in sprinklers, played in our mini pool and gone to the park... So we really needed to think out of the box. That's when I suggested Dinosaur Valley.

I knew a few friends had taken their kiddos there.. so I knew it would be fun.. but I didn't know how reasonable it would be!! Brian looked it up and to our surprise it was only $5 per person over 12 years of age (NOT BAD)!!!

We immediately asked the kids if they wanted to see Dinosaur Tracks. The answer, of course, was YES!

So packed up our swimsuits, water shoes, SUNSCREEN, hats, towels, snacks, sippy cups, wagon, water/ sand toys, bug spray, sun glasses, and first aide (you'd think we were going for a week LOL) and headed out early.

We got there around 10am and the weather was perfect. Not too humid... and warm enough to play in the water. Which we did for 5 hours!! & I bet we would have played longer had Brian not spotted a water mocassin. Once he saw the snake... I got the kids out of the water quicker than ice cream melts on a hot summer day. I do NOT do snakes. Call me a wuss... Call me a baby. I do NOT care. LOL

Anyways... here's some snap shots of the day. If you are a local or are planning a trip to Texas, I highly recommend check out Dinosaur Valley. It's fun for all ages.

Wow!

This tornado season seems to be a lot more severe then any other one I have been in. Remember, I have only lived in N. Texas for 9 years.

In the event of a tornado... where would you and your family find shelter?? Are your children in daycare or school? Do those facilities have a plan that you are aware of?

Being a WAHM... I am lucky. TV is at my access pretty much all day which helps me stay alert with extreme weather conditions... plus, a tornado siren is fairly close.

If a tornado was to occur near our home... we, the three kiddos and I plus the two dogs, would find shelter in our half bath which is pretty much in the center of our home on the bottom floor.

Being from CA... I have an emergency kit always prepared... you know, in case of an Earthquake.

Water, canned food, can opener, matches, paper, pen, flash light, batteries, and first aide can be found in my kit. Now that I look at that list, I realize it should probably be bigger.

This past week, Alexandra, Gray & Dal were all choosen to model items from a boutique. It was the first time this had happened and I was ecstatic!!!

All the kids love getting their photos taken... but it has to be on their terms. They are kids. They want to have fun. I respect that and keep it in mind while doing any types of photos.

So, Saturday evening, Brian, the kids and I headed to downtown Cedar Hill to look for some places to take photos. I found this awesome building and thought it would make a perfect back drop.

It was neutral but had great texture... Plus the lighting seemed to really work.

Unfortunately, Blogger quality of photo when uploaded looks AWFUL!! These photos are crisp and gorgeous. In fact, I will probably frame a few.

They were all taken using my Nikon D90, 50mm f./ 1.8 on manual mode and edited in LR3.

Photography... Yes Please

For some people, photography has always been a big part of their lives.

Some of my earliest memories were walking around with a camera my dad gave me. It was black and fairly small with metal trim. For the life of me, I don't remember the model. However, I do remember being surprised every once in awhile with film!! What a treat that was.

My dad always had a fantastic camera, and we were never able to touch it.

Now that I am a mom, I have a decent camera, a Nikon D90, and like my dad, don't let the kids touch LOL.

Okay, well, sometimes I do when I am right there and help them.

I want my kids to explore all of their artistic abilities whether it be photography, paint, architecture, etc. I want them to be well rounded.

BlueBonnets spot lighted by the sweet Texas Sunset

I have always loved flowers especially sunflowers and wild flowers.

Then I moved to Texas.
WOW!!

The wild flowers here are beautiful. It looks like someone took a paint brush and started dabbing color throughout the green lush carpet off the roadways.

Bluebonnets have quickly become a favorite. They make a short appearance between the end of March and middle of April. They are just lovely.

So, of course, it's only fitting to take pictures of my lovely little creations of art, MY CHILDREN, in them. HAHA. I am so bad.

I prepared them to "model" and have fun this past Saturday... and that's what they did.

Komen Race for The Cure

On April 9, I will be participating in the Ft. Worth Race for the Cure 5k walk. It is the first time I will be participating in such an event.

I'm walking because I want to make a difference. I want to help raise funds to fight this horrible disease.

Cancer has affected my life in more ways than one. & when my mom got a Breast Cancer scare late in 2010, after being in remission, it scared me. I don't want to lose her. There has already been too many lives affected by this horrible disease. It's like a frat boy making notches on his headboard. It needs to stop!!

Then, this week, I read a story about the youngest Breast Cancer survivor; Aleisha Hunter. She was two when she was diagnosed. Two!! That's younger than my sweet Alexandra. I can't even imagine what the parents must have thought. How do you even go about explaining something like Cancer to a 2 yo??

Aleisha underwent a mastectomy and had sixteen lymph nodes removed. She did not have to undergo Chemo or Radiation. And is currently a healthy 4 yo little girl.

What a wonderful ending to her story!!

Now, I would love to see Breast Cancer end. I want it to go away. I want us to find a cure. To fight. To be Brave. To band together and beat this horrible disease.

I have a goal of $500 dollars to raise by April 9. I know I can do it!!

Casting Call!!

A few months ago, I was posting on the Fort Worth Camera Facebook Page inquiring about a D90. Below my post was a photographer inquiring about trade in deals for a non-profit organization; Compassion Photography.

I love looking at the creative work of photographers... so, of course, I clicked her name to find out more information.

Boy I am glad I did!!Compassion Photography is a wonderful ministry here in DFW.

They professionally photograph families who are struggling with the illness of a child/children at no cost to the families.

Currently, they are working directly with Cook Childrens Medical Center and their child life specialists.

However, in the last few months, Mia, the founder, has decided to open a sister company to help fund Compassion. She will be launching this sister company on April 1. So mark your calendars and LIKE her Compassion Facebook page for details. I know a little bit about the "details" and it's going to be FANTASTIC!!

The purpose is truly inspiring. Only Prettier proudly donates products to this ministry. Proceeds of each purchase goes to funding things I make for them. It's important for a child to feel important; To feel pretty/ handsome when they are sick. It's important for the families to see their child as a "normal" child for the brief time Mia is taking their photos. It warms my heart knowing I can help.

Throw in everyday duties and my regular job, and I hardly have time to eat ice cream.

The twins' birthday went very well!! We celebrated 3 years of their amazing, little lives.

I would normally post pictures here... EXCEPT, I dropped my old lap top and all the pictures are still on it :(

Dalton's birthday mostly family and a lot smaller. We all had a fantastic time. He's such a charmer.

Then of course... right after birthdays we have Christmas. This year was particularly fantastic!! Alexandra and Gray were very aware of Santa Claus and Baby Jesus.

Christmas morning was very memorable. I am loving this age. Except for the temper tantrums, ALEXANDRA.

Okay, there was a little look into our Holidays.

I would show you pics of California BUT, I lost my camera at Disneyland. :( It is the most horrible feeling I have had in a really long time. I don't care about my camera... just the images and videos I captured.

For instance, Alex is O B S E S S E D with Tinkerbell. We, Mom/ Grandma the three kids and I, waited 45 mins to meet her. I video Alex's first reactions to Tink. Took tons of pictures etc. Now, they are gone. :(

Anyways... The trip was fantastic. WE always love to catch up with the family. However, my grandma/ Omi, was sick :( so we only saw her once!!! UGH. Not fair. Hopefully she will come out this Spring.

Other things going on... Dalton is walking like a mad mad (since November) but only says a few words. We are working on that though.

Alexandra is very smart!! You can have a conversation with her.

Gray... he is very into Monster Trucks and video games right now. Such a boy.

Me... I am working. I am creating for Only Prettier. & Most importantly, I am fundraising for Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure on April 9 in Ft. Worth Texas.

Late last year, my mom (who is in remission for cervical cancer), had a breast cancer scare. Currently, her doctor's are watching her very closely.

Too many people have been affected by this. WE NEED TO FIND A CURE.

What's Cookin'?

Cooking has always been a big part of my up bringing. I would often gather in the kitchen and help my mom and grandmothers as a child.

I am very fortunate to come from a long list of GREAT cooks!!

With my maternal side cooking with a Brazillian and Greek influence and my paternal side cooking with a Austrian influence.

Need I say more?!?! LOL. We love food... and our love for it comes out in the taste.

In November, my father, POPS, and grandmother,Omi, came to visit the kids and I for a little over a week.

It was the first time they had stayed for a long trip and we were so glad they did. The children LOVED waking up and knowing Omi and Pops were there to play with.

During this stay, Omi taught me multiple family recipes including her famous bread recipe. I think we made 10-12 loaves of bread while she was here. & she also taught me her DELICIOUS Affel Strudle recipe.

The cameras were going non-stop during the stay... but the photos can't hold a candle to the memories we created that were captured in our hearts. I will forever cherish that time.

How horribly sad is it that I have to BRIBE my children to take pictures!! Thankfully, Hot Wheels aren't very expensive :)

In the last month... we have had 3 birthday, Alex & Gray turned 3 and Dalton turned 1, and two birthday parties. I will be catching up on some posts very soon.

Halloween in December?

What can I say? I have been a bit busy!! Sorry.

The last few months have been non stop. With getting the business going (Only Prettier) to planning the twins' 3rd Birthday. Oh, did I mention an awful cold that had us all down for a week, Thanksgiving and family in town!! :)

Woo!! I am out of breath.

Okay. Back to Halloween.

My cousin Tanya came to town to celebrate Halloween with us. It was such a treat. HAHAHA. Get it?!

This year, Alexandra & Gray knew exactly what was going on. They were dressing up and they were going to "Trick Or Treat" people.

We went with a classic Halloween theme for everyone. Gray decided on a Spider. Alex decided she wanted to be a "Rich"... which was really a Witch... and Dalton, well, he didn't really have a choice. Momma made him a Punkin!!

We had a very easy going day... and started to dress up around 5pm. You know I had to take pictures before the sun went down!!

After posting "I am a Good Mommy" one of my good friends posted this about:

"Oh no! I love that about you! Being in childcare as long as I have, professionally, in my own home and even with my own kids, I have seen some crazy over-protective moms out there! I think you have a wonderful mix of caution and tolerance. ...Some things need happen for the kids to grow and learn. Kids need to fall down and experience that "if I run in flip flops I am going to eat the pavement" or "if I jump on the bed, I am going to fall off or hit my head". Moms can preach these things all day long and the kid will be fearful to try anything on their own as they get older or will rebel. But, at the same time, you have to use caution on the things that could seriouslly hurt them. Sometime you have to let the kids find things on their own, discover things on their own and become their own person. You are doing a great thing with your kids... just keep on doing what you are doing and ignore the family! ;)"

Hearing this from a mother I admire totally makes my day and warms my heart!!!

Did the title give it away? Do you know where I am going with this post?

If you are a busy mom like me... then I have something you are going to LOVE!! & while I could keep this secret to myself... I must not be selfish. I must share!!

Bisquick Shake n Pour is fantastic!! It is super quick and fun to use. Even the twins get in on the action.

(I have seen two sizes avaiable... one for $1.36 at Target and the other for just under $2)

All you do is add the amount of water directed on the label, put the lid on top and SHAKE!! This is where the kids have a {blast}. We dance and sing about pancakes and shake shake SHAKE!!

While they are shaking, I am warming up a non-stick pan... low-medium. I do NOT add butter.

Once the kids are done shaking ... I open the top and poor straight from the container into the pan. I usually get about 6 pancakes out of the little container... Which is perfect for our family.

When you see bubbles in the batter... it's time to flip.

The pancakes always come out nice and fluffy. They are not too sweet... and best of all the kids love them!!

We usually pour our Smucker's Blueberry Syrup over the top of them and have a banana, berries or some other sort of fruit on the side. But you can pour whatever you like on them ;)... stack 'em, make sandwiches out of them...just enjoy them and your family.

Dare to Compare

It's easy to say, "I don't compare my children." But we all know the truth.

I will be 100% honest. From the moment the babies were born, I have been comparing them. Whether it be their looks, their personality, their milestones, etc. How can you not compare your child with others?

& while I think comparing parenting styles and milestones are important... I will leave that for a different post.

This post, I am comparing the looks of my two sons; Grayson & Dalton.

I am loving this age for the twins!!

Pretend, dress up, COMMUNICATION, potty training, independence, sports.

It's amazing. The feeling I feel knowing that I am the one who taught the kids how to throw a ball, kick a ball, put their pants on, put their shoes on, play pretend, be kind to animals, etc.

So the other day, when Alexandra was playing with "Sally" her baby doll (she has just gotten into baby dolls... it's PRECIOUS) it warmed my heart!!

Alexandra sat "Sally" in the high chair, buckled her in and put a bib on her. Then, she came and said "Mama, Sally is hungry. What can I feed her for lunch?" Awww!! SOOOOO SWEET.

I asked her what "Sally" liked and she said, "Sally likes APPLE SAUCE!!" Ah-HA!! I saw where this was going.

We went into the pantry and got out some of Mott's Strawberry Applesauce. It's fantastic if you haven't tried it!! Alexandra got one of Dalton's spoons... and we sat at our breakfast nook and feed "Sally".

Alex was so patient with her baby. She talked quietly and loving to her. It was SOOOOO nice to see.

Granted... Alex would pretend to feed "Sally" the apple sauce and then she would quickly put the spoon in her mouth and gobble it down.

I guess, I also taught the kids not to be wasteful... ;)

How Big?!

This past Thursday, Dalton had his 9 month check-up with Dr. Dickey.

Everyone was so excited to see her and I was excited to see how much my little man has grown.

Recently, he has started sprouting TEETH!! September 9th he got his first one (bottom right)... then September 18 he got the bottom left tooth. This past Saturday, the top right tooth cut through.

I cannot believe how much his gummy smile has changed in a month :(

So I knew, when he got his first two teeth, my little baby was growing up.

What was to come next, was a bit unexpected.

Totally fits!!

The wonderful nurse, whose name escapes me right now, escorted us in and had me place Dalton on the scale. Since I have been, somewhat, weighing him at home, I knew he was over 20 lbs.

In fact... here's Dalton's 9 month measuresments:

Height: 29 3/4 inches (85%)

Weight: 20.4 lbs (36%)

Head Circumference: 45 cm (33%)

Long and lean... just like his brother Grayson. Or is he?

Let's compare... Grayson's 8 Month stats. 17.4 lbs!!! Wow. Dalton is 3 lbs more than Gray was... and when you are that small... that's a HUGE difference.

So I bet you are wondering where I am going with this... well take a look at Gray's stats from his 12 MONTH check up!! That's right, his one year check up.

Gray

Height: 29 3/4 inches (47%)

Weight: 20.2 lbs (11%)

Head Circumference: 46 cm (37%)

DALTON is as big as Gray, when Gray was a year old!! Wow!! That's my Hoss. :)

Other then his growth stats, Dr. Dickey said Dalton was doing very well.

Secretariat Date

Let me tell you how excited I have been to go see Disney's Secretariat. Since seeing the preview of the movie based upon the journey of the 1973 Triple Crown Winner I have wanted to see this movie. I love the warmth this movie had to offer... it seemed like an adventure!!

So, when the nice ladies at BlogHer sent out an email stating they had some special screening tickets to see Secretariat... I kept my fingers crossed that I was selected to go see the movie!! & since we don't have a local babysitter (in-laws live about an hour and half away) I was hoping I got enough for the whole family; 4 tickets!!

Needless to say, the ladies came through!!

Throughout the day, the excitement built. I asked the Alexandra and Grayson if they'd like to go see a movie, and the answer, was of course, yes!! After seeing Disney's Toy Story 3, the kids have been asking to go back to the movie theater. When I asked them if they wanted to see a movie about horses... they really got excited!!

We picked out our outfits... and got all jazzed up to go on our "date". I was sure hoping Brian would be home in time to enjoy the movie with us but he was not. However, a date with three of my favorite people was still pretty awesome!!

We left the house with plenty of time. A rarity in these parts, let me tell you!! Someone either can't find their shoes... or Dalton poos. Something always throws my timing out of whack. But this night was going smooooooth.

When we got to the Studio Movie Grill, where the special screening was being hosted, we walked in and the nice gentleman asked to see my Drivers License to verify who I was. No problem... EXCEPT, I left my wallet at home and had no idea!!!

Seriously, this has never happened before. I was so disappointed in myself.

I was now going to have to strap the kids back into the car and head home (15 mins), get my wallet and head back. Surely, I would be late to the starting of the movie. Was it even worth it to go back to the movies? Would the kids be cranky!!

The nice man would have let me in... the thing is, I didn't have any cash to buy the twins supper. And since the movie was showing at 7:00pm it was dinner time for them and I had planned to eat dinner at the Studio Movie Grill (think Chili's with a movie screen). UGH!!

At this point, I needed to pull the twins aside & explain to them we had to go home real quick.

Oh wow!! That went over about as well as a fart in church!!

Gray started whining {shocker} & Alex was pouting. Three year olds can't grasp why this was all going on so I completely understood. Especially, since inside, I was whining and pouting too!! I couldn't believe I did this and felt completely horrible.

& out of NOWHERE!! A nice lady came up to me and said, "I overheard your conversation with the kids," (I was being quiet so she must have seen the tears) "Can I please help?" I simply told her we had to go back home because I forgot my wallet. Her response was, "They are so ready to watch the movie...!! How about I lend you some money and you can mail me a check?"

Really!? A complete stranger was going to lend me money to buy the kids supper and trusted I would send her a check. The world is good.

She asked me how much I needed... and told her $10 would be just fine to get them a little something. She gave me $20 and told the kids to have an awesome time.

Thanks to her, we did!!!

Or sort of did.

We watched about a hour's worth of the movie before Dalton started getting a little fussy. He was sleeping just fine until the lady behind cackled really loudly LOL. By this time it was 8:30pm and really time for us to leave... soo we did. :)

What I saw of the movie was fantastic!! I cannot wait to watch the movie in full. In fact, we may just have a date night at home to do so with p' corn and all!!

Our First Day of School

Wow!! Yea, WOW!!

Sometimes, that word describes everything.

Feelings. Thoughts. Actions. Everything.

Last Thursday, Alexandra and Gray started their first day of school. They are attending a local Mother's Day Out program (MDO) one day a week.

MDO allows children, specifically children who stay home, to experience a school environment and to work on socializing skills with their peers to prepare them for the future.

For the past couple of months, Alexandra and Gray have been asking about "school". Some of the twins' older friends are going to school and they wanted to go as well. So, after many, MANY searches I was able to find a one day a week MDO in our budget. Most MDOs are Tuesdays and Thursdays... and while the cost of these programs aren't too expensive... it does get expensive when you double it. Hence, the one day a week program.

They picked out their backpacks and lunch totes... no surprise with Minnie and McQueen!! We put their lunches together. & I picked out their outfits!! LOL. Hey, a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do. If I would have let them pick out their outfits Alex would have worn her tutu which she calls her {fufu} and Gray would have worn one of his orange shirts with shorts.

Everything was set out the night before... including what we were having for breakfast.

We got ready and took a few pictures before we headed over to school. Unfortunately, these pictures were taking with my point and shoot and not my DSLR camera so they aren't as crisp. PLUS there was something on my lens... thank you Miss Alexandra.

Capturing Life's Little Moments

I am in the market for a new Point & Shoot Camera.

I have a 3 year old Sony Cyber-Shot 12.1 but it has seen better days.

It has gotten wet... in rain and with wet hands, not dropped in a sink full of dishes or anything like that. It has been sandy, dirty, and sticky. It has really held up and I am impressed.

There are a few things I don't/ didn't like though:

Does not take an SD card... Takes a Sony Memory StickDuo
Takes a long time to focus and shot on Auto
The shutter will not close anymore (seems that cybershots have issues with their shutter
It does not consistently take good photos

Things I do/ did like:

Video recording ability (use it almost daily)
Manual options
Compactness (it's a word I just made up)

Most of the pictures your will see on The Journey of Three Stones were taking via this camera. Granted... some of the blurriness could be caused by user error. But the camera itself is not consistent.

That being said, I am looking for a great PNS camera with:

Manual Mode (I love shooting my DSLR but it's not always practical)
Video recording
SD card
Consistency
Compactness
Durability.

We Gotta Jumper... Or Two

The twins have always loved the water... from baths to sprinklers to pools.

Big pools. Little pools. Deep pools. Shallow pools.

It doesn't matter as long as it's wet!! & living here in N. Texas... we need as much cool water as possible.

This year, my girlfriend LeeAnn, introduced us to Stearns Puddle Jumpers. They are a Type V US Coast Guard Approved Life Jacket with Type III performance.

Which, in my terms, means they are FANTASTIC!!

Puddle Jumpers have really giving the kids the confidence every child needs around water. Not to mention, I feel secure enough to take the twins swimming alone when they wear them.

Getting Alexandra and Grayson to wear the jackets was not hard at all (unlike getting them to wear other life jackets)!! They are no where near as hot & sweaty. Plus they have CCCUUU-UTE designs.

Alexandra and Gray both got to choose their own style. Alex went with the adorable Ladybug design:

Nothing is sweeter than watermelon on a hot, summer day... except for watching your babies eat it and grinning from ear to ear!!

This is the second year in a row that we went "camping" for the 4th of July weekend.

Like last year, we had a BLAST!! Quite literally, in fact. It's legal to set off your own fireworks on the outskirts of town... and you know Brian took advantage of that opportunity LOL.

So after a day of swimming and playing... we spent the evening at the marina watching a professional and amateur fireworks display.

The twins even got involved by holding sparklers!!

I want to remember the way the twins say certain things... (Dalton doesn't talk yet).

Their dialect is so different. Sometimes, I think Alex thinks she's from the North East. While Gray has a real southern twang as his Grandma says...

And it's such an amazing feeling knowing that I am the person that understands most of what they say. Brian, even as dad, sometimes has to ask me what the kiddos are asking for or saying LOL.

And I love when I talk to Dalton and he lights up ear to ear. He has a smile that is contagious. I can't wait to hear some of the little phrases that his voice is going to say one day.

Anyone who knows Alexandra and Grayson know they have an obsession with trains. And while most children their age do love trains... it's no where near as intense as the love the twins' have for them.

Growing up, my dad would take my brother and I to Los Angeles Live Steamers as a treat.

LALS is a non-profit public benefit corporation that was started by train enthusiasts for the purpose of educating people in railroad history and lore and also to further the avocation of live steam, gas-mechanical and electronic railroad technology. They operate 7½" gauge model trains for the general public to ride. LALS is only open on Sundays and they do have height and weight restrictions so check their website to verify you comply.

When I told my dad that we were coming to town for a couple of weeks... the first thing he planned was taking the twins to the "Little Trains" (the name we called them growing up). I was so excited to share this experience with Alex and Gray. An experienced that I cherished growing up.

We planned on going the first weekend I was in town and I am so glad we did. The weather was PERFECT!! Not to mention, there was a real STEAM ENGINE LOCOMOTIVE giving rides. And supposedly that train is only there ever so often.

Uncle Harold (my dad's brother... my uncle :)) and my cousin Tanya met us at the LALS. It is so nice to be surrounded by family.

If you are in the LA area or plan on making a trip to CA, you need to put this stop on your list. It is fairly inexpensive, since it is a donation, and kids love it.

I am NOT Crazy, am I?

I know, I know.... I posted a teaser a few weeks ago regarding our road trip from Texas to Cali and never followed up.

Well, let me start by saying, it takes 2 weeks to prepare to go out of town for 2 weeks. And it takes another 2 weeks to unwind, unpack, clean up, reorganize, get back into schedule, and relax from 2 weeks "vacation". LOL

I know ya'll know what I am talking about!! RIGHT?

While in CA, we did a lot. Which means a lot of blogs. In fact, I will be blogging for the next week or so about our trip.

When my little cousin, Tanya, called me and said she wanted to come out in the Spring for a visit, I was ecstatic!! I love my family and I love when they visit me here in TX (They live in Cali).

Not only was I excited... but the gears in my head started turning.

I have really wanted to go back home but Brian isn't able to take off work, and, well, flying with 2 1/2 yo twins and a 5 month old just didn't sound like fun.

Not only would I have to buy 3 plane tickets, haul 2 car seats around, and rent a vehicle BUT I would also have to push a stroller or carry the infant carrier AND keep up with the twins in busy DFW Airport.

I was having anxiety attacks just thinking about that. I mean, what would happen if I had to pee? Or we had a lay over or even better... a flight delay. Someone QUICK give me a brown paper bag!!

So flying was out but driving was definitely possible.

After talking it over with Brian... I proposed the idea to Tanya who very quickly accepted. She loves road trips so I knew this would be great. I just didn't know how great.

We left Friday, May 7. Tanya had to be back at work on May 10 so I gave us 3 days of driving if we needed it. I wanted the drive to be stress free. I did not want any unhappy campers. Plus... I really didn't want to drive at night.

We packed lunch meat, Dora Snacks, bags of froot loops, milk boxes, juice boxes, fruit, crackers, LOTS OF DIAPERS, water, hand sanitizer, veggies, peanut butter, LOTS OF WIPES and the most importantly---we packed these:

RCA Dual 7" Car DVD System

Seriously, these things are a God send!! We packed all our favorites, Nemo, Monsters Inc, Toy Story, Leapster, Dora, Diego, Blues Clues, and Thomas. For every "fun" movie they had to watch an educational movie.

And while we don't watch 12 hours straight worth of TV at home, EVER, I felt like I was doing the best I could to keep the them happy and occupied. Plus, incorporating the educational videos made me feel like they were learning as well.

We did turn the videos off while we were looking at cool terrain, like going through the mountains right before Albuquerque, NM, and looking at all the fields and trees in north west Texas. Sorry AZ and CA border... you are BORING!! LOL

They had their books in the back seat, along with some other important things

and tractors, and blankets all at arms reach.

It is very important to keep children's senses occupied. We all know their attention span is minimal so having different options around (even multiple options of the same thing) helps.

When I stopped for gas... the kids jumped around the car (it was cold outside). I made sure to dress them in very comfortable clothes. Like cotton t-shirts and cotton shorts... comfort was key.

If they had a reasonable request, I tried to accommodate it. For instance, Alex wanted french fries... so as soon as we saw a place with french fries, we stopped. Granted, it was 2 hours AFTER she asked but we were in the middle of no where.

What I did wasn't a miracle. I just simply tried to figure out what would keep the kids busy so I could pay attention to the road. Thankfully, it worked for us to and from CA (2 day drive btw)

In fact, I plan on doing the drive again!! Am I crazy... maybe. But it was totally worth it.

As some of you have noticed... the Stone Monsters have been MIA...

Well it's because:

We are in C.A.L.I.F.O.R.N.I.A!!

We invaded the southern region of the sunshine state a couple of weeks ago. We have been numerous places and have taken a bizzillion and half pictures.

With pictures comes "tales" LOL.

Be prepared.

And for all those parents with multiples planning a long distance drive with your family this year... STAY TUNED!!

It's not very often that I am in photos with the kids... main reason is because I am always the one taking the pictures. The other reason is because I always look fat (which isn't hard when you are overweight LOL).

Anyways, this picture isn't too flattering from the boobs down but I love it so!! My little guy is getting so big.

In fact, I have found two new parks in the last two weeks that I am excited about.

Last week, Shebi (one of our most awesome friends EVAH) came hunting with us. I knew I had seen some parks in a specific area but wasn't quite sure where it was. Plus, we (Shelbi and I) were scouting locations to take pictures of the twins in the blue bonnets... and then we found it.

A HUGE PARK!! It has 4-5 different play areas. From toddler age to "big kid" age. It was awesomeness.

Oh, and the kids seemed to really enjoy some of the different toys one of the play area had. Take a looksie:

Growing Like a Weed!!

My sweet baby boy, Dalton, is growing like a weed!! Everyday, he does something to make my heart skip a beat or two.

His smile lights up a room. His funny "coo's" makes him laugh which makes me laugh. I don't think I could have asked for a better baby. Everyone who has met him has been in awe with his personality.

Well, last friday, April 16, Dal turned 4 months. In honor of his 4 month birthday, we went to visit our favorite pediatrician, Dr. Dickey.

Dalton got his well baby check and passed with flying colors just like he passed his Two Month Check.

Brian and I are extremely thankful that we have been Blessed with such healthy babies. As a parent, healthy babies is one of the biggest worries.

Dalton also got the okay to start eating "food"... which we started on Sunday night. Yesterday, Monday, he successfully ate Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!! I am so excited. I hope he will soon start sleeping 9 hours or so through the night (he sleeps from 10:30 to about 5:30 now).

Here are his stats:

Love Play Dates!!

When the twins were born, I knew NO SAHMs!! Not a one. So when Brian and I made the decision that I was going to stay home with Alex and Gray, I MADE the decision to find some other SAHMs.

I was lucky to stumble upon a great group of women on CafeMom. Most of these moms had known each other for years... and I was so glad they welcomed me in with open arms.

They are all different ages, with different beliefs and backgrounds. But it's so cool how everyone gets along so well. I believe it's because we all have one thing in common; To be the best moms we can be!!

We, the group (or at least some of us), get together at least once a week or so. Recently, we went to the Fort Worth Children's Museum... stay tuned for that blog.

Last week, we meet up for a park play date with our friend Erica and her sweet kiddos, William and Emily.

William is a few months older than Alexandra and Gray but him and Gray are quickly becoming good friends. They both share a love for cars LOL.

Wow!! I have a lot to catch up on.

First, I wanted to thank all of our new followers and give ya'll a "cyber wave" :) Yes I am a dork!! I think we established that somewhere in one of the many other posts.

This is just a sneak peak into the info I am going to post about tomorrow. I was just too excited not to share SOMETHING today.

Friday, Alexandra, Gray, Dalton and I went to visit Dr. Dickey, the kids' pediatrician. It was time for Baby Dal's 4 month check up (you have to wait for tomorrow for more on that).

The twins were so excited. They really love her as do I. I think she's terrific.

We were greeted with smiles and an examination of Dal. And best of all, she gave me the okay to introduce FOOD to Dalton. I asked if I should start with rice cereal, then move to veggies, fruit then meat... and she said no, to my amazement. She said there was a new allergy study done... and it actually proved that introducing foods later in a baby's life did not prevent allergies. In fact, the study showed children who had eaten foods earlier had less food allergies and local allergies.

So last night, I feed Dalton some of Earth's Best Plum Banana Brown Rice (Target had them on sale for $.62). He L.O.V.E.D it!! He ate more than half the jar, plus nursed.

This morning he finished the rest of the jar and seems to be really enjoying it....Like the twins he is not a messy eater which makes for a happy mommy.

March Madness!!

Yes, I know it's April... BUT since I am such a slacker when it comes to blogging I am just now catching up on March photos.

This winter was COLD & wet... so when the warm sun started peaking through, we wanted to take advantage of it.

Going to the park with the kids is the most relaxing part of my day. You are probably thinking I am crazy especially if you look back at our history...

November '09 when I was 8 months pregnant with Dalton, Gray decided he wanted to go for a swim at a local duck/ goose pond (GROSS!!). One minute we three were playing in the sand pit, the next minute Gray is running towards the pond (he's REALLY fast) and I hop up and chase him in full pregnancy trot. Man, I wish there were cameras around LOL. Or do I? Anyways... he went face first into the pond followed by me grabbing him by his pant waist.

Back to my story...We meet up with some of our friends at a local park for a play date. We all got some much needed vitamin D and fresh air. The kids played and played and PLAYED!! And I was pretty worry free since there was no water around.

Big Red Tractor

I love the moments when Brian and I go riding on the Big Red Tractor (Farmall)... it's us time. It's a time we connect and don't really have to say anything. It has been like that since the first time we rode it together... years and years ago!!

The monsters still haven't had a chance to "ride" it but the last time we were at the ranch both Gray and Alexandra were able to sit in daddy's lap and touch the stirring wheel and all the other goodies. They were so excited, especially Gray.

Recently, I found my old tractor toys. Yes folks, I have tractor toys. I really enjoy tractors, what can I say? LOL Anyways... Gray and Alex have been playing with them so I think it has brought a new interest in real tractors.

If you have read our posts before... then you know how much I L-O-V-E Target!! I mean, who doesn't love Target?!

We are firm believers in the Up & Up Diapers (which are Target's brand), we also love their cute kiddie clothes, and mommy clothes. Oh, and did I mention the shoes?!?! Yay for shoes!!

So, it was no surprise to hear Alexandra say... "Mama, we go SHOP-PING? Target, mama? Target?" the other morning. I was shocked and proud, needless to say hahaha. She is definitely a little spit-fire like her mother.

Here we are stopping for our Starbuck's (love that they are inside Target)... I get a Skinny Decaf Caramel Macchiato while the kids get Vanilla Horizon Milk. It's like we are all drinking something golden... including D-Dub!! He get's liquid gold every time he eats (breast milk).

Yes, I know!! Not the best picture quality... but they were taking with my wonderful iPhone... and you have to admit... they are pretty darn cute!! XxOo

You Missed It!!

That's right folks!! You missed it... but it's my fault you missed it.

As a WAHM (work at home mom) of 2 year old twins, and an infant, things can get pretty hectic!! Our normal days can drive the most sane person crazy.

Have I mentioned how much I love my life lately? Because I do. I wouldn't change a thing, except, maybe, having my family closer (they live in So Cal).

Enough about that though!!

There's a lot I haven't blogged that I thought I would share... this may take two blogs. F-U-N!!

First, I want to touch base on Texas' crazy weather. One day it's snowing, or as Alex calls it "SnowMan", the next day it's 70. Yes folks, that really happens here.

This was a record snow fall for N. Texas and we enjoyed it very much. In fact, I think it spoiled us. I am NOT going to be satisfied with a mere 1'' or 2'' of snow next winter, so Mother Nature... please come through for the Stone family and produce another foot of snow!! Please & Thank you. ;)

No Hands? No Feet?

Now, I am sure you are thinking, "What is this crazy lady posting about?"

Well, it's nothing too extreme. Our kids are just practicing for the day they will be part of Summer X-Games!! LOL.

For as long as I can remember, Alexandra and Grayson have shown interest in bikes. From the first time they saw one in a picture book to the first time they caught a glimpse of one at Wal-Mart. They have even tried to steal other kids bikes at the parks (sorry about that).

So it was only fitting that they got a tricycle for their 2nd Birthdays.

After reading reviews and looking at the tricycles in person, Brian and I decided that the Radio Flyer Ready-to-Ride was the best option for our family. We, of course, went with a red trike for Gray and a pink trick for Alex.

GiGi and Grand-dad purchased the tricycles for the twins' birthday... and they have been in love ever since. In fact, they ride them in the house on a normal occasion. Granted, we have wood floors and the bikes are clean so it's not like they are doing anything "bad".

Well, last weekend, it was G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. We could not help but want to be outside. So me and my quick thinking brought the kids and their trikes outside and we had a blast!!

It felt like I was a kid again.
They shrieked with excitement. Cried with frustration. Smiled with delight.
It was magical.

It seems like yesterday that my little Baby Dal was born.

Surprisingly, he is 3 months old now!!

When the Alexandra and Gray were 3 months old (the twins at 3 months) , I was the panicky mom who was wanting to make sure that my children were growing at the right speed and hitting all their milestones at the appropriate time.

I have noticed with Dalton I am a little more laid back.

The twins have taught me so much but one of the most important things they have taught me was that everyone develops at their own rate.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am still concerned and want Dalton to grow and achieve his milestones but it isn't my primary focus. My focus now is to play with him, to encourage him and to have him interact with his brother and sister. I have discovered that by doing this he is ahead of his milestones!! Yay DW!!

D-note (as daddy calls him) is a talker!! He ow-aw-aw-ows at me all day. If he sees me, his face lights up and he starts talking and smiling at me. He is very interactive. There has been a slight giggle but no laughing quite yet. I am sure he will be laughing before the end of the month.

His eyes talk volumes and so do the rest of his facial expressions. He's sooooo sweet.

The newest thing he's been doing is trying to roll over!! I bet he will be rolling back to front by 4 months. Go Dalton Go.

When Dalton was born, we had no idea what a large, long baby he was going to be. I, personally, thought he was going to be in the mid 7lbs range and about 20'' long. As we know, from reading Let the Intros Begin, that wasn't the case.

Last Thursday, Dalton, Grayson, Alexandra and I headed up to Dr. Dickey's office for Dalton's 2 month exam.

We love seeing her. Dr. Dickey is such a wonderful person and even better doctor (if that tells you anything!!)

First thing they do is weigh my little D Dub. He is growing nicely. Next, they measure is length... such a wiggle worm!! Then it's off to the exam, eyes, nose, throat, ears, joints, etc.

Thankfully, we get the "He is doing great!!" speach. And let me tell you, that is such music to a parent's ears. We all worry about the health, growth and progress of our children, so when a medical professional reassures you that everything is going well... it's a huge sigh of relief.

Christmas Time

This past Christmas was amazing!! We, in Texas, had a White Christmas.

The snow fell gracefully on Christmas Eve night as we drove home from Brian's Grandparents' home. The kids, half asleep, kept saying "snowman. snowman" as that is their term for snow. Where they came up with that, I have NO clue.

Rushing everyone out of the car into the house... an excitement traveled through me. I had just realized it was my first White Christmas as well!! I couldn't wait to go to sleep and wake up in the morning and play in the snow.

The snow continued through the night and in the morning there was about an inch of "snow" on the ground.

Seriously, Pampers and P & G?!

Back in October, I blogged about how I thought Pampers had changed their diapers and how they were no longer working for our family.

In the back of my mind, I thought I was wrong. But then, others started making the same complaint. In fact, Baby Cheapskate did a huge review on this.

Well this morning, I was reading the news feed on my Facebook account and saw that Baby Cheapskate had written a new blog regarding Pampers' diapers, once again.

P&G has stated that they did, in fact, change their Cruiser diapers in the summer of '09. However, the new diapers concoction (that is what it is) was only released in parts of the U.S. of A. I guess Dallas, TX was part of their research spectrum.

Anywho... Here's what P&G said it a press release:

"Pampers Diapers invented the Dry Max technology and applied it to the current Swaddlers and Cruisers core, which allows the diaper to be thinner than before. This game-changing diaper - Pampers' driest ever - helps lock wetness in for up to 12 hours and its less bulky design helps give flexibility and comfort - perfect for all of babies' play. The new diaper design also helps families reduce their impact on the environment by containing 10 percent less material weight. In fact, if current North American Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers users switched to the new Pampers Cruisers Diapers with Dry Max diaper, they could together throw away the weight of 1 billion less diapers every three years.... "

While I support the fact that P&G is trying to be "Green" and reduce the amount of diaper waste, I do not support the fact that these changes were made without consumer notification. Nor do I feel that my baby/ babies should be used as guinea pigs for a new chemical. In my opinion "Dry Max" is a chemical. And yes, I know there was a "keep dry" chemical in the old diapers BUT those diapers had been on the market for years and it wasn't anything new. (new things are a bit scary to me)

Ad Age also did an article on this and in their article they state:

"The new diapers do cost less for raw materials, packaging and shipping, but P&G isn't lowering the price. The company has, however, also made a substantial upfront investment in overhauling its production lines that will take time to pay back, Ms. Allen said, though she declined to say how much time."

Now this also annoys me!! Seriously.

Procter and Gamble Co. deceives the public by completely changing their diapers without telling the consumer. They get tons of negative feedback on their own website, blogs, twitter, and facebook. Yet it's the consumers fault and the consumer is going to have to pay more for diapers that cost less so that P&G can pay for their huge marketing ploy.

Well guess what P&G, I do NOT want your free diapers. I do NOT want your coupons. I will NOT support your diaper line. I am very, very happy with Target's UP&UP brand and so are my babies' tushies.

So, I am obviously behind on my blogging but for good reason!! I have been very busy. Thankfully, things are starting to slow down and fall into routine which will allow me to catch up with family, friends and blogs!!

On with the BLOG!!

Please welcome the newest member of the Stone household; Dalton Wesley.

Otherwise known as Baby Dalton, Baby Dal, Piggy Dal, D Dub, Dub Dub, DW, Bubba, Butters, Sugars and Dalton. If you haven't noticed, nicknames run rampant in our household. :)

Here's the story of our exciting birth day!! Do enjoy.

December 16 was just another normal weekly check up. The twins and I headed out quickly with the intent to be home by 10am to eat breakfast, relax and wrap Christmas presents.

So, we get to the doctor's office and we are seen right away. With the holidays so close, they weren't very busy. The nurse weighed me in and looks at me with disappointment; I lost another 2 pounds. Then she has me sit down so she can take my blood pressure.

This is where it gets exciting!!

My blood pressure had been fluctuating from low to high for the last two months of my pregnancy. This time, when she took it, my blood pressure was the highest it has ever been!! 150/100!!!

She had the room door open because the twins were chit chatting with the other nurses and doctors and we were all joking about. Well, my doctor, Dr. Barbara Coulter-Smith, D.O., was right there and when she heard that... she retested my BP. She came up with the same reading and looked at me and said, "How do you feel about having a baby today?" LOL. I was like, "Can I go home and get my stuff and do my hair?" She laughed and said, "No, you are going to Labor and Delivery right now. With BP like that, we do not need to risk anything. I will meet you over there in about 15 minutes."

I almost thought she was joking. Heck, maybe I wished she was joking. The house was a mess. My hair wasn't done. Brian was working a LARGE job. Alex and Gray were hungry (and so was I!!). Not to mention, Brian and I were behind on getting baby stuff together and the baby had no where to sleep!!!

Still in shock, I called Brian and tell him Alex, Gray and I are headed to Labor and delivery. He thought I was kidding. I had to assure him I was not. I then called my mom. She was ecstatic!! Then the twins and I headed across the street to Labor and Delivery (nice and convenient).

When I got to LD, I checked in and I got this sense of shock. The people checking me in were like, "You are having a baby? How old are they?" as they looked at the twins... Folks, this isn't rocket science!! LOL

Thankfully, I had an awesome nurse; Nurse Melinda. She was a lively nurse with a great sense of humor. I can't imagine what would have happened if they paired me with someone who wasn't funny.

While I was getting dressed in my "fabulous" gown, she turned on Sesame Street for the kids and got them breakfast since I had mentioned none of us had ate. I don't think I could have asked for a better Labor and Delivery nurse. Oh, and she is a mom of 3 year old twin girls and a 2 year old girl...

Never being in Labor and Delivery (the twins were a scheduled c-section) it was all very new to me. I was lucky though!! Nurse Melinda had just started her shift and I was her only patient, meaning, I was going to be waited on hand and foot!! Okay, not really. I was considered high risk since I was attempting a Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC) so they, the Doctors and Nurses, wanted to keep a closer eye on me.

Dr. Coulter-Smith came in, as she said, about 15 minutes after I had gotten there. She checked my cervix and such... I was progressing well and was having contractions that I wasn't aware of. Dr. Coulter-Smither then said she was going to break my water around noon to help things get going.

This scared me a little bit. I had seen these big crochet looking things they use to break the water and I was afraid it would hurt or hurt the baby. So when Dr. Coulter-Smith came back at 12:05pm... I asked her, "how much is it going to hurt when you break my water?" She laughed and said, "It's not going to hurt. It's going to feel like an exam. The water will be WET and warm." I then replied back with, "You are just telling me that so I won't be scared. I know it's going to hurt!!" LOL. During this "conversation", she broke my water and I was SOAKING WET. It was the grossest feeling.

Just after she broke my water, Brian showed up. He was still a bit shocked but then said, "I knew today was the day, sug." I had not felt well the evening before. I was dizzy, and couldn't eat much of the yummy tacos I made. Not to mention, I feel asleep on the couch around 8!!

Terry and Craig (Brian's parents) got to the hospital not too long after Brian got there. They took care of Alexandra and Gray. Which, by the way, the twins were EXCELLENT during this whole process. They were in their stroller for a couple of hours... eating graham crackers, drinking water and watching KERA.

When Terry and Craig got there... they took the twins to get lunch, Arby's to be exact. The they went shopping at Target LOL. Love Target.

Around 3pm, my contractions started getting stronger. In fact, I was finally able to feel them!! LOL. I was at 7cm and decided to get my epidural and boy I am glad I did!! by 5:15pm I was 9cm and by 5:30pm I was complete.

Did I mention I was facebooking this whole time?! Yes folks, I updated my status the whole time. Well, at least the whole time I was bored waiting to push.

Dr. Coulter-Smith was with me from 5:15pm until I had Dalton (she is FANTASTIC!!).

At 5:45 everything was set up to push... My doctor's son had his first band recital at 7pm and my nurse's shift ended at 7pm so I knew the baby needed to be out soon so they could be with their families. After 6 sets of three pushes... Dalton was born pink and crying at 6:07pm!!

It was such a great feeling. No one in the room knew what sex the baby was which was extra special.

Brian had to walk out on my last push because he was feeling "hot". But he ran back in when he heard the sounds of a newborn baby's cry. While my doctor was suctioning out Dalton's mouth..... I was like "Well!! What is the baby?!?!" She started laughing and said she hadn't looked yet. So she showed me!! A sweet baby boy :)

Having a successful VBAC was such a wonderful blessing. Only bad thing is... his right clavicle broke during labor. I had an epsiotomy (she cut me I didn't tear)... but my pelvic was too small to push him through without his clavicle breaking. In fact... my doctor was saying she was worried I wouldn't be able to get his head through my pelvic... but I did!!

No one realized how big Dalton was while he was in my tummy. I only gained 8 lbs during pregnancy... and I didn't look huge. Dalton, however, is a BIG BOY!! 8 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long.

We are both doing very well. He eats a LOT, sleeps, and poops. He's very healthy and extremely sweet.

Alexandra and Grayson took a couple of days to understand Baby Dalton wasn't going anywhere. Gray wanted me to hold him when I was holding Dal so I think that was his sign of jealously. Alex just wanted to be carried... They have both returned back to normal though!!

I try to include them in as many activities involving Dalton as possible. Not to mention, I love on them as always!!

Brian and I are very lucky to have such a wonderful, HEALTHY, little family.

Oh... and to all those woman who are considering a VBAC, I have to say go for it!! My recovery was super quick compared to my c-section. I was up walking around the evening I had Dalton. It was one of the best decisions I have made.

An Amazing New Angel

I still remember the call I received that tearful, cold, gloomy Saturday afternoon.

My YiaYia (grandma in Greek), my mom's mom, had been very sick for a couple of weeks and in the hospital.

I had spoken with my mom the day before, Friday, and we were very excited with her progress so you can imagine the shock I was in when my mom said to me, "YiaYia passed away, sister."

The tears rolled down my cheeks, as I sat there in disbelief.

How could my grandma be gone? She was such a strong woman with many years left. Why was she taken from us so early!?!?

My sadness turned into anger. I couldn't understand why the Lord would do this to me and to my family. My mom, who is recovering from Cancer, needed my grandma. My children, who had only spent a few days of their lives with her, needed to be held by her. They needed to see and remember her smile and to hear her contagious laugh. My unborn child needed to meet their Great YiaYia and to be blessed and loved by her. I needed to feel her powerful presence and to hear the wisdom she often spoke.

But then I realized how selfish I was being; My anger turned into sadness once again.

How could I wish for someone I love to live in pain just so I could have them close and here, on Earth, with me?

Why didn't I try harder to visit home (California)? I could have saved better so I could have flown out there with the twins. I feel like I deprived her from getting to know her great grandchildren. I still feel awful about this. UGH!!

There are so many emotions one goes through when a loved one has passed. There has not been a day I haven't thought about my YiaYia. But knowing she is in Heaven and in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ helps me through my selfishness.

For now, I know she feels no pain, no sorrow.
